Every situation is different. We work with you to figure out exactly what kind of support your pet needs — and for how long. All of our services are free of charge.
When an unexpected crisis hits — a sudden hospitalization, a car accident, a family emergency — and you need someone to take care of your dog right away, we step in.
Your dog stays in a safe, loving home environment with an experienced foster volunteer. We handle feeding, walks, medication administration, and all the daily care your dog needs while you handle what you need to handle.
Best for: Hospital stays, accidents, sudden emergencies
Maybe you don't need someone to take your dog full-time, but you can't manage the daily walks and care on your own right now. That's completely okay — and that's what we're here for.
Our volunteers can visit your home regularly to walk your dog, handle feeding, provide companionship, and make sure your pet is getting the exercise and attention they need.
Best for: Mobility issues, recovery periods, ongoing treatment schedules, reduced energy or capacity
We understand how emotionally hard it can be when you are unable to care for your pet. We are here to listen and offer support through these hard times.
Having someone by your side that can understand what you might be going through can be an invaluable support.
Best for: Any situation that needs compassion.
When someone is in hospice care or going through an extended illness, the last thing they should worry about is whether their dog is okay. We provide ongoing, consistent support for as long as it's needed.
This could mean regular visits, daily walks, or even full-time fostering — whatever combination makes sense for your family's situation.
Best for: Hospice care, terminal illness, family medical situations
Recovering from surgery or a medical procedure is hard enough without trying to keep up with a dog that needs walks, play, and attention. We help bridge that gap during your recovery.
Whether you need a week of dog walking while you're on bed rest or a few weeks of fostering after a major surgery, we'll work with you to create a plan that fits your timeline.
Best for: Post-surgery recovery, medical treatments, physical rehabilitation, chemotherapy
All of our services are provided at no cost. We're a nonprofit run by volunteers who care. If you want to give back, donations are always appreciated but never expected.
We currently serve Salt Spring Island exclusively. As we grow our volunteer base, we hope to expand to other Gulf Islands and beyond — but for now, we're keeping it local.
While we love all animals, our services are currently focused on dogs. If you have another type of pet that needs help, reach out anyway — we'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
